ALBERTA, CANADA - Celebrate the history and culture of indigenous nations, at Canada’s premier high-alpine summer and winter Rocky Mountain resort.
Calling all mountain-lovers, hikers and outdoor adventurers up to the Sunshine Meadows for two days of celebrating community, indigenous culture and land.
Banff Sunshine Village honors indigenous communities during their Indigenous Days celebrations up at the Banff Sunshine Meadows, on September 9th & September 10th.
The Banff Sunshine Meadows sit on the present-day territories of the treaty 6, 7, and 8 and the Métis Nation Homeland.
Members of the Stoney Nakoda Watâga (treaty 7,) will be performing traditional indigenous rituals, dances and chants at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM on each day of celebrations.
These thirty-minute ceremonies are a moment for us to celebrate, respect and acknowledge the sacred land we all get to enjoy. Indigenous culture and tradition are a prominent piece to our Canadian Rockies history and Banff Sunshine Village wants to show appreciation and give thanks to the land we call home,”
says Kendra Scurfield, Banff Sunshine’s Director of Brand and Communications
